Corporate Structure
South Valley Water Polo Club (SOVA) - CA CORPORATION #: C3857347 is a California State registered 501C3 Non-Profit Corporation organized to promote local, national and international amateur water polo and aquatics. SOVA has a board, executive officers and volunteer administrative and coaching staff.
Purpose
As a charitable organization, SOVA seeks to promote increased participation in aquatic sports in the local community in general and specific effort directed at young men and women from economically disadvantaged circumstances. SOVA is particularly interested in creating life altering, positive opportunities for young men and women who may otherwise experience generational impediments to higher education and career opportunities.
Organizers
The organizers of SOVA are ardent long time high school and college water polo and aquatics athletes, coaches, referees and parents who have roots in the South San Joaquin Valley of the USA Water Polo Central Zone. It is a shared, strong belief that aquatic sports and particularly water polo is an exceptionally demanding sport that hones the character of young men and women. Our experience is that water polo players often go to college after high school, they maintain exceptional high school GPA's and develop outstanding resilience based on their participation in competitive water polo.
Goals
South Valley Water Polo provides competitive club practice and tournament attendance for our players throughout the state of California. Our primary goal is to incrementally and consistently increase the quality of our water polo and aquatic athletes in the South Valley and become recognized for championship caliber water polo that is reflected in our SOVA Teams' perfomance at the anuual USA Water Polo Junior Olympic National Tournament and also in the performance of our local high school teams in their respective CIF Divisional Championships. We measure success by the quality of our players as athletes and citizens after they leave us to positively impact their familes, the colleges they attend, the employers they work for and the communities they live in.
Coordination & Cooperation
SOVA is a cooperative effort supported by coordination between the Visalia Unified School District, local middle schools, local high school water polo programs, city parks and recreation department, parents and players. Our common goals and common purpose create the foundation for pool use throughout the school district to support our boys and girls teams from 8 years old to 18 years old. As a non-profit charitable contribution organization we also build relationships with private organizations and individuals to coordinate fund raising efforts to support our commitment to the growth of water polo and aquatic sports to include members of our community who would otherwise not have the opportunity.
