South Valley Water Polo announces Partnership with Olympians Maggie Steffans & Tony Azevedo

SOVA is so excited to finally announce our partnership with Tony and Maggie to provide our club players with the very best training and performance technologies. SOVA will now be able to offer transparency and accountability to water polo training and development in a manner that has not been readily available to club water polo athletes.

SOVA has invested in providing these technologies that allow for the integration of exercisie science and kinesiology coupled with performance and testing metrics to focus training on improving water polo perfomance. These technologies track the athletes skills and traning progression from the youngest age groups all the way to the college recruiting process.All SOVA Club Members automatically receive an annual subscription to the 6-8 Moblile App and much more!(Click here for further information)

The 6-8 Sports Challenge is the Official Standardized Test of USA Water Polo.

Why are we called South Valley Water Polo Club?

The Central Valley has a Northern section, the Sacramento Valley and a Southern section, the San Joaquin Valley. The San Joaquin Valley is the area of the Central Valley of California that lies south of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in Stockton. Although most of the valley is rural, it does contain MSAs such as McFarland, Delano, Fresno, Bakersfield, Stockton, Modesto, Visalia, Porterville, Merced, Madera, and Hanford. Other small South Valley towns exist within those MSAs.

Welcome to South Valley Water Polo Club!

SOVA is committed to helping our players learn the game and then prepare to play the game at the college level. We have partnered with Olympian Tony Azevedo and 6/8 Sports to support our SOVA College Ready Program with his Player Showcase Event. This year's event is especially important because high school players missed a year of competition and have had limited to no visibility to potential college programs and coaches. This player showcase event (6-8 Series) is an invitation event to 16U & 18U players in the South Valley. It is currently scheduled for Saturday, May 1st, 2021.

It will include the skills challenge with 7 core water polo skills tests with the results recorded to the player profile and added to the mobile application and national database. There will also be drills sessions and/or 3-man/women team tournament that is video taped and a formal evaluation drafted for the players and provided to college coaches. We will update the site often with additional details and registration links. MARK MAY 1ST ON YOUR CALENDAR.

The South Valley Water Polo Club (SOVA) entered boys teams in three divisions at the 2019 USA Water Polo Central Zone Junior Olympic National Championship Qualifier Tournament held in Clovis, CA June 21st thru 23rd. The 2019 SOVA teams made club history as SOVA has qualified all three age group teams for the Championship bracket of the Junior Olympic National Tournament July 20th to July 24th in Orange County.

We are so proud of the effort, commitment and sportsmanship of our SOVA players. Parents and coaches are thrilled to have these deserving players not only represent SOVA but also their families and the entire South San Joaquin Valley water polo community. The core value of SOVA is the knowledge, dedication and commitment that our coaches invest in the success of our players.

Congratulations to all the players, their parents and our coaches. Well done!

South Valley Water Polo Club - Visalia

SOVA is South Valley Water Polo Club. SOVA offers teams for boys and girls from ages 8 to 18. We are a registered USA Water Polo club and we attend water polo tournaments throughout the state. Our focus is on the development of basic and then advanced water polo skills and techniques for the individual and the team. Our SOVA players come from Visalia, Three Rivers, Exeter, Strathmore, Tulare, Hanford, Lemoore and Kingsburg. SOVA boys and girls players represent 30 different South Valley schools. Players are welcome from any city and school in the South Valley.
